We’re back at it, planning this year’s Traditional Building Conference Series, hoping you will join us. Our first event in the Series takes place May 10-11, 2023 in Lake Forest, Illinois.

Our Lake Forest venue is the Tudor Revival Style manor house, Deer Path Inn which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1928-29, designed by architect William C. Jones, this boutique hotel has an intimate, well-appointed ballroom meeting space with room enough for both the classroom and exhibit tables in one big contiguous space.

For all us Anglophiles, the hotel is of a Cotswold's vintage, complete with stone fireplaces, an English pub, a flagstone patio with climbing ivy, and an English tea served in the afternoon.

We had a solid attendance in 2022 with a 60/30% audience composition of architects/builders. The remaining 10% were building owners, facilities managers and interior designers. Feedback from attendees about the education, the quality of our sponsors, the venues and the food was excellent.

Let me know if you'd like to see the results of our attendee surveys, conducted after each event.

After Lake Forest in May, we move on to the Mansion at Oyster Bay, thirty miles east of New York City on the north shore of Long Island. Mark this date, July 11-12, 2023. The July Traditional Building Conference features the annual Palladio Awards gala. After that, in December, at the historic Ogalthorpe Club in Savannah, GA.

Judy Hayward is putting together the education and architectural tours, Carolyn Walsh is making arrangements with our venues, Gina Martin is promoting the 2023 Series, and Jennifer Baldwin is confirming sponsor participation. In addition to our expert speakers and practitioners, our sponsors are an important part of our materials and methods education.

We would be delighted to have you join one or all of the Traditional Building Conferences this year.
