Architect, romantic, poet, furniture designer, and entrepreneur, Bobby McAlpine envisions home as a timeless, gracefully and emotionally evocative place.

McAlpine, who designed his first house at age 5 and has degrees in architecture and interior design from Auburn University, founded his eponymous firm in 1983, which has designed hundreds of residences in a diverse array of traditional styles and regional vernaculars for clients across the United States and abroad.

McAlpine, who has been included on the AD 100 List and Elle Décor’s A-List, has been widely published in top periodicals, including Architectural Digest, Veranda, House Beautiful, Southern Accents, Elle Décor, Southern Living, the U.S. and U.K. versions of House and Garden, Garden and Gun, Coastal Living, Milieu, Traditional Home, and The Wall Street Journal.

His latest book, “McALPINE Romantic Modernism,” joins his critically acclaimed bestselling titles “The Home Within Us” and “Poetry of Place.”

The McALPINE firm has received numerous honors, including the AIA Honor Award, the McKim, Mead & White Award (formerly the Stanford White Award) from the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, and the Distinguished Service Award from Auburn University.u
