15th Annual DesignPhiladelphia Festival
For the second year, DesignPhiladelphia will kick off their 10-day festival with the Philadelphia chapter of the American Institute of Architect’s (AIA Philadelphia) second annual Forum on Architecture + Design hosted at Convene CityView in Center City, Philadelphia from October 2-4, 2019. Focused on curating educational content for designers, civic leaders, product manufacturers, technology suppliers and real estate developers, the Forum provides a platform where makers, fabricators and designers can come together, collaborate and exchange ideas with the Philadelphia architecture, engineering, and construction community.
Bringing together recognized designers and established industry leaders, the Forum on Architecture + Design sets the stage for professional and personal development across disciplines. Through engaging lectures and interactive sessions, the Forum helps to effectively articulate the importance of quality design and architecture while also emphasizing the role that they both play in improving our communities and our future. Attendees will gain new perspectives on the issues and opportunities of the built environment in the Delaware Valley region and beyond.
“We are thrilled with our keynotes this year: Bryan Lee, Colloqate Design; Nader Tehrani, NADAAA; J. Meejin Yoon and Eric Höweler; and Juli Eizenberg, FAIA, RAIA. These individuals will speak to some of the most fundamental issues facing architecture today: equity; climate change; technology and practice; and modern materiality.” Says Rebecca Johnson, executive director of AIA Philadelphia and the Center for Architecture and Design.
This year, AIA Philadelphia is also introducing a flex-pass ticketing option for firms to buy five or more full-conference passes and divide them among their staff. “We know that it can be hard to get away from the office for two entire days, so this year we instituted the flex-pass ticket option in order to maximize and continue to diversify attendance,” says Johnson.
“Last year when we hosted the Forum in conjunction with DesignPhiladelphia, 40 percent of attendees had never attended our conference before,” said Johnson. “The Board of AIA Philadelphia was excited about the diversity of attendance last year and is hopeful that the move back to a Center City location will make it easier for more built environment designers to attend.”
This year’s Forum includes a full day of tours on Wednesday, October 2nd at various high-profile projects in the Greater Philadelphia Region, with 30+ accredited education programs taking place over the following two days from October 3-4. During the Forum there will also be a two-day expo floor, four keynote sessions featuring nationally and internationally recognized industry leaders, as well as networking and social opportunities.
For those looking to experience all that the annual conference has to offer and are looking for opportunities to maximize exposure to target audiences, DesignPhiladelphia and the Forum on Architecture and Design offer a number of options for getting involved through sponsorship and participation.
